Co-operation with Town Council –
Farnham Community Task Force works closely with Farnham Town Council to address
community safety issues both in the town centre and in surrounding areas of the
town.
·
Community
Safety Day – A very successful Community
Safety Day was organised by the Town Council and the Task Force in April 2009.
The event took place in Gostrey Meadow and featured a number of local
organisations with an involvement in community safety. It was repeated in
conjunction with the Farnham Spring Festival in May 2010.
·
Anti-Litter
Campaign – Task Force has
organised an anti-litter poster competition amongst primary school
children for several years, and the winning posters have been displayed
throughout the town. “Litter picks” have been undertaken in and around the town
centre, and more bins for litter and cigarette butts have been installed at
sites identified by the Task Force.
·
Spring Clean
Day – Task Force is
promoting a drive to get every part of the community involved in cleaning up
their own neighbourhood on a Spring Clean Day in 2010.
·
Safety in
Gostrey Meadow – Following a
proposal from the Task Force, strongly supported by Students & Police
representatives, providing lighting along the footpath through Gostrey Meadow
became a Town Council project, which was successfully completed a few years
ago. The Task Force now hopes to be able to help support the installation of
CCTV near the new bandstand, acting on behalf of the former Farnham PCPG
(Police & Community Partnership Group).
·
Street
Cleaning –
Task Force is trying to arrange
for Waverley Borough Council’s street cleaning schedule to be published
regularly in the Farnham Herald and/or on the Town Council website. Residents
will be able to check when their streets are supposed to be cleaned and report
any problems to the council through this website (see “Areas of Concern”).
·
Dangerous Car
Park Exit – Task Force identified a need for better signs at the exit
from Central Car Park by the private car park in order to reduce the number of
accidents at this point. Waverley Borough Council took note and installed clear
“Give Way” and two-way traffic signs.
